Meet the Team

At Boanerges

David & Sherry Disney, Senior Pastor

David and his wife Sherry, have been members of Boanerges for over 40 years. They were both part of the Boanerges Trio for many of those years. David has served in various positions within the Church, such as Sunday School Teacher, Treasurer, Deacon, and Associate Pastor. After an extensive career in Manufacturing Operations, David retired, and in 2013, Boanerges called David
as Pastor.

David grew up on a farm in Bradley County after his parents moved from Illinois. David and Sherry were married in 1974 and have been blessed with two wonderful children with their spouses. Along with their children, they have four grandchildren who always bring joy to the family.

In 1996, David made a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, which has since created a passion to travel there as frequently as possible. Besides serving the Lord through the Church, David loves leading tours to the Land of the Bible.

Rocky & Linda Green, Associate Pastor

Rocky grew up in Murray County and after graduating from Murray County High School, he married Linda.  They moved to Whitfield County where their daughter Jeanna was born and later their granddaughter Kristyn.

Rocky, Linda, and their daughter Jeanna became members of Boanerges Baptist Church 39 years ago (1986).  Because of the friendly environment that surrounded us, it wasn’t long before Rocky began serving in various roles such as Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, and musician playing the Steel Guitar for “The Boanerges Trio” for 20+ years.  Since 2013 Rocky has served along side Pastor David as Associate Pastor.

In 1996 Rocky made his first pilgrimage to the Holy Land and is very attached to that place.  It has enriched his studies of the Bible and the Jewish culture.  After much study Rocky earned a degree in Biblical Theology and has also finished a course in Jewish Christian Studies from Zola Levitt Ministries in Dallas, Texas.

Rocky is a very talented musician, singer, and very skilled in the Jewish culture (including the Hebrew language).

Deacon Board

Are Edd Allen, Dewayne Bain, Jeremy Dill, Roger Knight, Rick Ross, Leslie Rush, Donnie Tilley

1 Timothy 3:8-13 Deacons likewise must be dignified, not double-tongued, not addicted to much wine, not greedy for dishonest gain. 9 They must hold the mystery of the faith with clear conscience. 10 And let them also be tested first; then let them serve as deacons if they prove themselves blameless. 11 Their wives likewise must be dignified, not slanderers, but sober-minded, faithful in all things. 12 Let deacons each be the husband of one wife, managing their children and their own households well. 13 For those who serve well as deacons gain a good standing for themselves and also great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus.

A Deacon’s primary job and responsibility is to serve God’s church. At Boanerges, our Deacon Board consists of some of the greatest men you will ever know. Their love for God, and for their church family is unparalleled. If you know any of these men, you know them to be Godly, and to have a servant’s heart. We are so blessed to have these men serving our church family!

Shannon Dill, Youth Coordinator & Media

Shannon Dill is passionate about building relationships with the youth of the church. As a mom to three daughters, she realizes the importance as well as the impact church has on young believers. Her hope is that every young person is given the amazing gift of a church full of people invested in them, teaching them to know and walk with the Lord. In her experience growing up in a church where the youth were very active, nothing compares to the joy of having a church that God has given you to grow in Him. Shannon’s hope is that Boanerges is a church that every youth who comes through the door will long to continue coming because they know that Jesus is here, and her hope is that Boanerges will become more than a building, it will become home.

Youth Sunday School Teachers

Sunday School is about helping kids learn that church is a fun, safe place and most importantly that God Loves them. It is meant to provide children with the basics of being a Christian, including Bible Stories, Jesus’s teachings, and fundamental beliefs like salvation and forgiveness. Our Youth Sunday School teachers are fulfilling a call in their life. They are called to teach! They volunteer their time because they love Jesus and they love kids. Their commitment to your child’s spiritual and personal growth is unmatched.

Adult Sunday School Teachers

An adult Sunday school teacher’s primary responsibility is to lead meaningful Bible study by preparing and facilitating engaging lessons that guide adults to apply scripture to their lives, encouraging spiritual growth through discipleship, fellowship, and outreach. At Boanerges, our Adult Sunday School teachers have a strong faith in God, a strong understanding of the scriptures, and a heart for God’s word and sharing it with others. These are men that will love you, pray for you, stand beside you, and help equip you to face life with a strong biblical foundation.

Word of Life Teachers

Word of Life’s mission is to evangelize and disciple youth. Our goal is to strengthen the church of Jesus Christ by reaching young people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.WE hope to accomplish this through Bible centered, youth-focused, Gospel driven activities and teaching.
